World of Women (WoW) is set to enchant once again with its flagship event: WoW Gala Lisboa: Feathers, Fizz & Freedom. The gala will take place on June 5, 2024, at the Palacio do Grilo during the NFC Lisbon conference.

Having brought bioluminescence to Paris in 2022 and galactic glamour to Miami in 2023, WoW returns in 2024 with an all-new installment of its lavish fundraiser. The gala will be a complete immersion into art, technology, and the spirit of the new roaring twenties, as the Zoomers take the torch from the Jazz Age generation.

The venue is an 18th-century palace, known for its rebellious history and its connection with art and freedom of expression – a perfect place for an event that aims to redefine the role of women in the digital world and in Web3.

According to Taisia Antonova, CEO of WoW, the Gala will not be a simple gathering related to the world of cryptocurrencies, but a complete experience that will unfold as guests walk through the decorated rooms of the palace. Cutting-edge digital installations will be juxtaposed with the baroque magnificence of the halls, creating a fascinating contrast between ancient and modern.

The soundtrack of the evening will be entrusted to a selection of internationally renowned artists. The Brazilian duo Venga Venga will present sets that transcend music, merging performative art, poetry, and visual stimuli into a collective sensory journey. Following them, DJ P.H.I.L.O.U, recognized for her performances at Tomorrowland Winter and Extrema, will further enhance the atmosphere with her hypnotic sets. Rounding out the lineup are local artist Anya, the creative NOANNE – also a member of the WoW community – and a sophisticated live jazz band. Additional artists and the headliner will be announced in the coming weeks.

As Jordan Zucchiatti, artistic director of WoW, points out, the event aims to reinterpret the creative freedom of the twenties of the last century in a contemporary way, offering a space where women can forge connections and paths in Web3. The Gala is therefore more than just a party: it is a cultural and social manifesto.

In previous years, the Gala has attracted prominent figures such as the entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, the sports analyst Ros Gold-Onwude, the influencer Guy Oscar, the investor Eunice Wong, and the co-founder of The Sandbox Sebastien Borget. The Lisbon edition promises to be a highlight of the social calendar of NFC Lisbon.

For the first time, WoW is opening ticket sales to those who do not own an NFT from the collection. This strategic decision reflects the recent shift in direction in the brand’s communication, which is increasingly focusing on broader female themes and a Web2 audience. The goal is to create a link between these new followers and the Web3 culture, offering them a direct and engaging experience.

This event comes at a pivotal time for women’s participation in the cryptocurrency sector. According to the 2024 State of Crypto report by Gemini, the percentage of women who own cryptocurrencies has decreased from 42% in 2022 to 31% in 2024.

Moreover, companies founded exclusively by women receive only 2% of venture capital funds, despite women having started twice as many new businesses as men (266,000 vs. 126,000) between 2019 and 2023, according to the report by the Center for Women’s Business Enterprise.

In this context, the WoW Gala Lisboa aims to be a catalyst for change, offering visibility, networking opportunities, and practical support to women in Web3.

The evening program will be as follows:

• 7:00 PM: Welcome at the Palacio do Grilo

• 7:30 PM: Dinner in the main hall of the palace

• 8:30 PM: Special performances by Benga Venga and DJ P.H.I.L.O.U

• 10:00 PM: Continuation of the party in the palace garden

World of Women (WoW) and the future of Web3

The Gala also coincides with an important technical evolution for WoW: the transition to the Tezos ecosystem, built on Etherlink, an EVM-compatible Layer 2 blockchain powered by Tezos Smart Rollups technology. This change will be a further step in WoW’s mission to create new opportunities for women in Web3.

Among the recent initiatives, the series of portraits by Sara Baumann, dedicated to the women builders of Web3, stands out. So far, WoW has distributed over 3 million dollars to non-profit organizations and supported more than 500 artists, showcasing a broader commitment that goes beyond its famous NFT collection.
