Pasir Ris residents will be familiar with Waffle Aunty, a snack kiosk at Elias Mall known for its trendy coin pancakes, cute egglets and more. Good news: they’ve just opened a second outlet in Kovan, along Yio Chu Kang Road!

Started out as a humble home-based business, Waffle Aunty is now known for their Smiling Egglettes, which come in over 10 flavours. The cheapest one is the Plain, which goes for $1.50 each or $8 for a box of six, followed by classic flavours such as Kaya (from $2) and Red Bean (from $2).

If you don’t mind splurging, try their famous Nian Gao egglet, priced at $2.50 each or $12 for six! These cute egglets come with a sweet, mochi-like nian gao middle.

You’ll also find the viral Korean coin pancakes here with a localised spin. These coin-shaped pancakes are called Huat Cake: they come with a “發” embossing, translating to “huat”. Priced at $5 each, the pancakes are available in flavours such as Biscoff, Black Sesame, Cheese, Choco Banana, and Nian Gao.

Two types of waffles are also on the menu: Mini Temptations Waffles and Traditional Waffles. The former stars petite waffle rounds with toppings such as Hae Bee Hiam (from $3) and Cheese ($3), while the latter are essentially the old-school pandan waffles most of us are familiar with.

Do note that Waffle Aunty Kovan officially opens on 14 September 2024. If you’re planning to drop by, keep your eyes peeled on their Instagram page for the latest updates. We hear there’ll be new flavours and opening specials!
