Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin has weighed in on the ideal portfolio allocation debate, revealing that his Bitcoin (BTC) holdings fall below 10%
Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin has shared insights into his cryptocurrency portfolio allocation, revealing that his Bitcoin (BTC) holdings fall below 10%.
The topic gained attention after crypto analyst Udi Wertheimer shared his belief that serious crypto investors should allocate at least 10% of their portfolio to BTC, with an optimal allocation closer to 70%.
However, Buterin expressed a contrasting view, stating that he holds less than 10% in BTC and any asset that is not ETH. This preference aligns with an Ethereum-first investment strategy.
A closer examination of Buterin’s portfolio reveals that ETH constitutes the vast majority of his holdings, valued at over $794 million at the time of analysis.
He also holds AETHWETH ($9.53 million), WETH ($869,66), and KNC ($442,67), indicating some diversification within Ethereum-based assets. Smaller allocations include MOODENG, WHITE, and EBULL.
notably, Buterin's portfolio includes minimal stablecoin exposure, with only $87,120 in USDC, despite its role in facilitating liquidity.
As Buterin’s portfolio is self-reported and may not reflect his complete holdings, it showcases his preference for ETH and a limited allocation to other cryptocurrencies.
