Tata Curvv CNG Variant In The Works; To Get A Turbo-Petrol Engine
Feb 06, 2025 at 04:15 pm
The Tata Curvv CNG will feature a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, expected to deliver around 99 BHP and 170 Nm torque.
India has witnessed a surging demand for CNG cars, prompting automakers to expand their lineups catering to the preference for fuel-efficient and eco-friendly vehicles. While Maruti Suzuki dominates the market with the widest CNG portfolio, Tata Motors is not far behind. Now, according to industry sources, Tata is set to introduce a CNG variant of the Curvv Coupe SUV, which is expected to launch later this year.
Tata Curvv CNG: Powerful Turbo-Petrol Engine with Factory-Fitted CNG Kit
The Tata Curvv CNG will be powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which is tuned to produce 99 BHP and 170 Nm torque. However, with the addition of the factory-fitted CNG kit, the power and torque outputs may see a slight adjustment. This is the same engine that powers the Nexon CNG, promising a powerful yet efficient driving experience. Notably, the Curvv CNG will be India's first coupe-style SUV to offer a turbo-petrol CNG combination, making it a game-changer in the CNG segment.
Mileage & CNG Tank Capacity: Curvv CNG to Offer 20-22 km/kg Fuel Efficiency
The Curvv CNG will feature a dual-cylinder CNG system with a total capacity of 60 liters (30L + 30L). Despite the large tank size, Tata has designed the vehicle to ensure sufficient boot space, making it a practical choice for buyers. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Curvv CNG is expected to deliver 20-22 km per kg, which will make it an economical alternative to petrol-powered SUVs.
Expected Price in India: Tata Curvv CNG to be Competitively Priced at Around ₹10 Lakh
The Tata Curvv CNG, with its premium features and segment-first offerings, is expected to be priced in the range of ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom), which will make it a competitive choice against other CNG SUVs in the market.
Design & Safety Features: Curvv CNG to Retain Sleek Coupe-SUV Design with iCNG Badging
The Curvv CNG will retain its sleek coupe-SUV design, with the only noticeable difference being the iCNG badging to distinguish it from the petrol and EV variants. The vehicle will be packed with premium features, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 9-speaker JBL audio system with voice assist, 6 airbags for enhanced safety, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) & Electronic Stability Program (ESP), brake assist & three-point seat belts for all passengers, and disc brakes on all four wheels.
Moreover, the Tata Curvv has already received a 5-star safety rating in crash tests, making it one of the safest CNG SUVs in the market.
