Sui Foundation has doubled funding for Sui Overflow, a global virtual hackathon focused on developing products on Sui, to $1 million. The funding increase will provide accelerated grant funding, audits, and credits to support successful project launches. The hackathon will award prizes in various categories, including Consumer & Mobile, Infrastructure & Tooling, Gaming, and DeFi, and participants can compete in multiple tracks to stack awards.

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands - Sui, the groundbreaking Layer 1 blockchain renowned for its exceptional performance and unparalleled horizontal scaling capabilities, has witnessed a remarkable surge in funding for Sui Overflow, its inaugural global virtual hackathon dedicated to fostering innovation on the Sui network.

Initially set at $500,000, the funding pool for Sui Overflow has doubled to an impressive $1,000,000, thanks to the overwhelming support of enthusiastic backers. This substantial prize pool aims to attract developers from across the globe, incentivizing them to build innovative projects on the Sui network and showcase them before a discerning panel of judges.

The hackathon features a diverse array of categories eligible for prize winnings, encompassing Consumer & Mobile, Infrastructure & Tooling, Gaming, and DeFi. To further encourage developers' creativity, the competition also emphasizes the utilization of cutting-edge technologies within the Sui ecosystem, such as zkLogin, Advanced Move Features, Randomness, and Multi-chain capabilities.

Scallop, a leading DeFi protocol on Sui, began its journey at Sui's Seoul Builder House in June 2023, where its small team of developers showcased their innovation and secured the coveted first prize. Today, Scallop boasts an impressive $117M in Total Value Locked (TVL). Another shining example is Navi Protocol, another "Hackathon Hero" that emerged victorious in the DeFi and Payments category at the Sui X KuCoin hackathon, just a month after Scallop's triumph. Navi now boasts over $130M in TVL, further solidifying its position as a prominent DeFi protocol within the Sui ecosystem.

In addition to the generous support of title sponsor dWallet Labs, Sui Overflow enjoys the sponsorship of esteemed organizations such as Elixir Capital, Alibaba Cloud, Comma3 Ventures, MoveBit, Scallop, GSR, Supra, Wormhole, AngelHack, Pyth, Ryze Labs, and ZettaBlock. The prize structure for each category in Sui's hackathon is as follows: $30,000 for first place, $15,000 for second place, and two additional runner-up prizes of $7,500 each. Additionally, the hackathon will award 10 $2,500 University Awards and 10 $2,500 Community Favorite Awards. Notably, contestants are not limited to participating in a single category; individual teams are permitted to compete in multiple tracks simultaneously, potentially accumulating awards in excess of $100,000. Furthermore, various projects within the Sui ecosystem will offer their own separate bounties, creating even more opportunities for exceptional teams and projects to excel.

With the doubling of funding to $1 million, Sui Overflow participants will now be eligible for accelerated Sui Foundation Grant Funding, along with additional benefits such as audits and credits to ensure the successful launch of their projects following the conclusion of the hackathon.
