The project was announced at a press conference attended by US President Donald Trump, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison. It will begin with an immediate investment of $100 billion and is expected to create hundreds of thousands of jobs.

According to a statement from OpenAI, the Stargate Project will be structured as a new company. SoftBank will handle the finances, including securing funding, while OpenAI will oversee operations under the leadership of Altman. Son will serve as chairman.
