Shiba Inu's Enigmatic Developer Shytoshi Kusama Warns of New Scam Tactics Exploiting His Online Presence

Shiba Inu's enigmatic developer Shytoshi Kusama took to X to voice his exasperation, warning SHIB fans of new scam tactics exploiting his online presence.

The primary developer of SHIB, known by the alias Shytoshi Kusama, has taken to his X account to express exasperation over a new wave of scams exploiting his online presence. He highlighted the importance of verifying any information through official SHIB channels.

In a thread posted on his X social media account, Kusama detailed how a large number of scammers have begun impersonating him on X to promote their own scam coins.

"I am posting this thread to let the SHIB army know that if you see any X accounts advertising coins and having Shytoshi Kusama as a follower, be aware that these are not me," wrote Kusama.

According to Kusama, these scammers are exploiting his good name and generosity, which he said is being used to scam people out of their money.

As explained by U.Today, Kusama's X account is followed by a SHIB enthusiast "as a way to keep his ear to the community." Once this happens, scammers reach out to the account owner and offer to buy it for around 1 ETH. According to Kusama, this is a significant amount of money in some parts of the world.

After an account is taken over by Kusama and the scammers, "they rebrand the account as WHATEVER," renaming it to whatever they want. As the SHIB team is currently preparing for the upcoming TREAT rollout, it seems that the scammers are naming their accounts accordingly, as pointed out by Kusama.

"Next they start releasing their scam tokens and making new accounts with hot avatar girls," explained Kusama. After that, they begin promoting their token by creating narratives around it being "community-driven" and other such claims.

"I am completely fed up with this and I have said it many times before. Please listen to official SHIB channels and check with them for any new info," stated Kusama, reminding the community that he has frequently cautioned SHIB fans to do this.

However, the SHIB lead noted that there is nothing he can do to prevent scammers from purchasing the X accounts that he monitors. He does, however, try to prevent them from directly using his identity by keeping a close eye on the SHIB-affiliated account @susbarium.

"The system designed to ensure Karma and Reputation linked to Dao governance will be out soon by the SHIB team," promised Kusama at the end of the thread.
