63rd annual Yakima Sunfair Parade is set for September 21 in downtown Yakima

The 63rd annual Yakima Sunfair Parade will take place on Sunday, September 21 in downtown Yakima.

The parade is a family tradition for many in the Yakima Valley, with thousands of people lining Yakima Avenue each year to watch the floats, bands, and performers go by.

This year, there will be no entry fees for the parade thanks to the sponsorship from Yakima Federal Savings and Loan.

The parade will follow the same route as in previous years, starting at the corner of 16th and Yakima Avenue and making its way down to Naches Avenue.

Those interested in participating in the parade can apply by visiting YakimaParades.com to fill out an application online, downloading and mailing it, or picking one up at Ron's Coin & Collectibles at 6 N 3rd St, Yakima.

Something new this year is that the public can help pick the Grand Marshal.

People are encouraged to nominate someone who "embodies the spirit and values of our community and has made a significant impact."

Nomination forms are available on YakimaParades.com.

The deadline for parade entries is midnight on Sunday, September 8th, 2024.

For any questions about the parade, please contact Holly Cousens at hollycousens@live.com.
