Chevy is really upping the game with its sports cars, with the most recent Corvette ZR1 2025 coming in as the brand's most expensive yet.

An Ohio man has just taken home the ‘most expensive’ Corvette E-Ray on the market, spending over $50,000 on options.

Described as ‘the best sports car in the world’, this man was delighted with his purchase.

But what makes this particular Corvette E-Ray so special?

For starters, there’s over $50,000 worth of upgrades.

Chevy is really upping the game with its sports cars, with the most recent Corvette ZR1 2025 coming in as the brand’s most expensive yet.

The ZR1 looks set to be the biggest hitter yet from Chevrolet, already destroying competition lap times.

But the previous model, the E-Ray, is still a beloved model with a lot to offer, and now one man from Ohio has bought the ‘most expensive’ one ever made.

This particular Corvette E-Ray was recently bought by Ohio man Tony Schantz – and highlighted by YouTuber Rick Corvette Conti – who opted into every single possible upgrade that Chevrolet offers for the car.

The standard price of an E-Ray comes in at $106,900. This one was 50% more at $150,770.

At first glance, the E-Ray is lovely, with the riptide blue metallic paint and sports orange stripes – a token to Tony’s High School years – but the real expense was elsewhere.

Why is this Chevy sports car so expensive?

Straight off the bat, this Corvette flew up an extra $9k for the convertible range.

The range-topping 3LZ kit added another $11k, which included GT2 bucket seats and a Bose Performance Series 14-speaker audio system, which quickly proved to be a worthwhile investment as Tony expressed his wife would love the extra comfort.

Happy wife, happy life, no matter the expense.

Then there’s the performance-enhancing upgrades. A further $14k went on the carbon fiber wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season tires.

A final spend of $1,000 was added on for the clear-window tonneau.

All of this comes on top of the already-impressive Corvette E-Ray spec, which boasts a 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine alongside an electric motor. They combine to give the rear end that typical grit of American sports cars and the front wheels an electrifying zip.

“This is the best sports car in the world,” he claimed.

While this Corvette E-Ray might be turning heads, it’s not quite the twin supercars owned by the King of Morocco, which are based on Chevy’s esteemed model.
