The biggest literary party in Nigeria,  NLNG-CORA Book Party returns this year on Saturday, August 17 at the Shell Hall, MUSON Centre, Lagos.

The Nigeria Prize for Literature longlist for the Children’s Literature category has been announced by the Committee for Relevant Art (CORA) in partnership with Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG).

The longlist was announced on Tuesday by the Chairman of the panel of judges, Professor Chinyere Okafor, at a press conference held at the CORA office in Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to Okafor, a total of 256 entries were received for the 2024 prize, out of which 11 were shortlisted.

The shortlisted authors and their works are:

1. Ndidi Chiazor-Enenmor – A Father’s Pride

2. Akanni Festus Olaniyi – Bode’s Birthday Party

3. Jumoke Verissimo – Grandma and the Moon’s Hidden Secret

4. Henry Akubuiro – Mighty Mite and Golden Jewel

5. Temiloluwa Adeshina – Risi Recycle – The Dustbin Girl

6. Olatunbosun Taofeek – The Children at the IDP Camp

7. Ayo Oyeku – The Magic Jalabiya

8. Familoni Oluranti Olubunmi – The Road does not End

9. Hyginus Ekwuazi – The Third Side of a Coin

10. Anietie Usen – Village Boy

11. Uchechukwu Peter Umezurike – Wish Maker

The Children’s Literature prize, which is sponsored by NLNG, offers a cash award of $100,000 to the winner.

The Nigeria Prize for Literature rotates annually amongst four literary categories-prose fiction, poetry, drama, and children’s literature.

A shortlist of three is expected to be announced in September. A winner, if any, will be announced in October by the Advisory Board chaired by Professor Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo.
