DeJean, 23, is a defensive back for the Eagles who played high school football at Odebolt-Arthur Battle Creek-Ida Grove. He was drafted by the Eagles in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Iowa State.

The Kansas City Chiefs won the coin toss and elected to defer, making it the 15th straight Super Bowl in which the team that won the opening coin toss chose to defer.

The Chiefs will now receive the opening kickoff of the second half.

Only one team has chosen to start a Super Bowl with the ball after winning the opening toss since the defer option was initiated in the 2008 season: the Saints in Super Bowl 44 against the Indianapolis Colts.
