U.S. Mint Seeks Public Input on New Quarter and Half Dollar Designs Celebrating Youth and Paralympic Sports

The United States Mint will launch a new four-year quarter program in 2027 to celebrate youth sports across the nation.

This initiative, authorized under the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act (Public Law 116-330), will feature up to five different sports annually, highlighting activities played by American youth. The program will showcase the importance of youth sports in promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

In addition to the quarters, the U.S. Mint will release a redesigned half-dollar each year of the program, highlighting a single Paralympic sport. This integration aims to inspire and celebrate the achievements of youth with disabilities in sports.

The list of potential sports to be featured on the quarters and half-dollars was developed in collaboration with the President's Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition (PCSFN) and the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP).

To gather public input on the final selections, the Mint is inviting Americans to review the proposed list and share their preferences through a brief online survey.

The survey opened on January 22, 2025, and will run through February 20, 2025. To participate and help shape the upcoming Youth Sports quarter program, visit the Mint's official website at usmint.gov/coins/coin-programs/youth-sports/.
