Publicly listed Japanese company Metaplanet, recognized for its substantial Bitcoin investments, has announced the appointment of Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump, to its newly created Strategic Board of Advisors. The company made the announcement in a post on X.
This move is part of Metaplanet's broader strategy to become a leading force in Bitcoin adoption and strengthen its position in the global Bitcoin economy. The newly established board will include influential voices and experts from around the world, all focused on driving Bitcoin forward and shaping the future of finance.
Known for his success in real estate, finance, and brand development, Eric Trump is also a strong advocate for digital assets and brings a wealth of experience to the team.
"We are honored to welcome Eric Trump as the first member of our Strategic Board of Advisors and look forward to welcoming him to our annual meeting," said Simon Gerovich, Representative Director of Metaplanet Inc.
"His business acumen, love of the Bitcoin community and global hospitality perspective will be invaluable in accelerating Metaplanet's vision of becoming one of the world's leading Bitcoin Treasury Companies."

Recently, Metaplanet expanded its crypto portfolio with the acquisition of 150 Bitcoin (BTC) for approximately $12.5 million. This latest purchase brings Metaplanet's total Bitcoin holdings to 3,200 BTC, with a total investment of about $266.2 million.
To support its Bitcoin strategy, Metaplanet also raised 2 billion yen (about $13.3 million) through a successful bond issuance. This is part of the firm's goal to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026. CEO Simon Gerovich mentioned that the firm has been actively pursuing its Bitcoin investment strategy since April 2024.
As Metaplanet continues to expand its treasury and develop new products, the company aims to become a complete financial institution, offering diverse financial services and products to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
