GREENOCK youth club bids farewell to valued member of staff who helped set up a number of projects

A GREENOCK youth club has bid farewell to a valued member of staff.

Susan Whyte from Inverclyde CLD retired this week after helping to set up a number of projects at Oor Club.

The community stalwart began working at the club in September, helping older members with budgeting and setting up life journals.

Oor Club is a safe space youth club for children and young adults with additional needs.

A spokesperson for the club said: “She has decided to retire and even though we didn't work for long she gave some amazing advice to myself and was a very big supporter of oor club.

“We gave Susan a wee token of oor appreciation and she brought us all our own special treats: Greggs doughnuts, salt and vinegar Pringles, digestive biscuits and bread sticks and a card and pen with beautiful words.”

The youth club meets on a Wednesday night between 6pm and 8pm, with one club for school-aged children and another for over 18s.

There is also a learning skills club for over 18s on Thursday afternoons between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
