Gotchi Guardians Launches Browser-Based Version, Removing the Need for External Game Launchers
Mar 24, 2025 at 01:15 pm
Aavegotchi's game title Gotchi Guardians has taken a major step forward with the launch of its browser-based version

Aavegotchi's game title Gotchi Guardians has taken a major step forward with the launch of its browser-based version, eliminating the need for external game launchers or downloads.
Players can now access the game directly through the official Gotchi Guardians website, simplifying access and accelerating onboarding for new users.
The shift to browser play is part of a broader update from the Aavegotchi team, which includes quality-of-life improvements, new monetization mechanics, and expanded community engagement efforts. While the standalone launcher has been temporarily shelved, developers suggest it will return at a later stage, likely with additional features.
Aavegotchi Skins and Customization
The update introduces support for on-chain Aavegotchi skins, allowing users who own Aavegotchis to equip them as visual skins for their Guardians during gameplay.
These skins do not affect in-game performance or skill trees but offer a new way for players to display their collections and add a layer of personal expression to their matches. Skins can be selected through the Guardians selector, with a short loading time depending on the asset.
G-Bucks Purchases Now Powered by GHST
In-game currency, known as G-Bucks, can now be purchased using GHST—the native token of the Aavegotchi ecosystem—on the Base blockchain. The development comes shortly after Coinbase enabled deposits and withdrawals of GHST between Coinbase accounts and the Base network, making the purchase and usage of GHST much more accessible to users.
Players can fund their Aavegotchi Player Profile with GHST, and then spend it in the Gotchi Guardians shop to acquire G-Bucks and in-game items. The team has announced future improvements to simplify this transaction flow further. In addition to cryptocurrency payments, G-Bucks can now also be purchased with credit cards through payment partner Xsolla.
Spectator Mode and Gameplay Updates
Another notable addition is the inclusion of Spectator Mode, allowing players to join custom lobbies and watch ongoing battles without participating, offering a new way to engage with gameplay, learn tactics, and observe community matches.
The update also includes a wide range of balance patches and minor bug fixes. While the developers have not detailed all changes in the announcement, full patch notes are available on the Gotchi Guardians Notion page.
Community Clip Campaign Offers GHST Rewards
In a push to increase player-generated content and social media presence, the Aavegotchi team has introduced a new initiative titled “Show Us Your Clips.” Players who record or stream their gameplay and submit highlight clips are eligible for GHST token rewards ranging from 100 to 1,000 GHST, depending on factors like entertainment value, novelty, effort, and social media engagement.
Selected clips will be featured on the official Aavegotchi and Gotchi Guardians social media channels. Gamers may also share their clips independently; if reposted or retweeted by the team, they remain eligible for the GHST bounty.
This program is being treated as a pilot and may be adjusted in the future. Clip submissions are being collected through a dedicated Typeform link.
The game is currently in alpha (version 0.8.5), but the team sees this update as a stepping stone toward the eventual 1.0 release, which is expected to be multi-platform.
Future tournaments and community events are also in the roadmap, and early participants are encouraged to sharpen their skills now to gain an edge in upcoming competitions.
Players can visit the official Gotchi Guardians website to start playing immediately. The team also invites fans to join the Aavegotchi Discord to discuss updates, share feedback, and connect with other Guardians.
