On January 16, Ethereum developers had the 203rd All Core Developers Execution (ACDE) call with the Pectra upgrade in focus.
The Pectra upgrade on Ethereum is designed to introduce several key improvements to the network, including:
- Reducing the network's energy consumption by 25% through the EIP-4895 integration, which optimizes the gas退款 (refund) mechanism.
- Improving the network's scalability by integrating EIP-4488, which reduces the size of transaction blobs by up to 100 bytes.
- Making the network more accessible to users by integrating EIP-3651, which optimizes the way that transaction fees are calculated.
- Introducing a new opcode, SELFDESTRUCT, which allows contracts to be safely terminated and their remaining ether to be returned to the caller.
