Coinbase Relaunches Bitcoin-Backed Loans via DeFi Partnership With Morpho

Coinbase users can now obtain Bitcoin-backed loans thanks to a new integration with Morpho, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol. Users can borrow up to $100,000 in USDC almost instantly with this new service without having to sell their Bitcoin.

Coinbaseの紹介によりDeFiプロトコルであるMorphoと提携し、ユーザーはBitcoinを裏付けとしたローンを利用できるようになった。この新しいサービスにより、ユーザーはBitcoinを売却することなく最大100,000ドルのUSDCをほぼ瞬時に借り入れることが可能となった。

After ending its previous Borrow program in November 2023, which had offered cash loans backed by BTC holdings, Coinbase now provides a new avenue for Bitcoin lending.

Coinbaseは以前、BTC保有高を裏付けとした現金ローンを提供する「Borrow」プログラムを2023年11月に終了しているが、今回この新しいサービスを通じてBitcoinレンディングに再参入した格好だ。

Users’ Bitcoin collateral is converted to Coinbase-wrapped Bitcoin (cbBTC) at a 1:1 ratio without fees and transferred to Morpho. The protocol then sends USDC loans directly to users’ Coinbase accounts in less than a minute.

ユーザーが担保として預託したBitcoinは手数料無料でCoinbase独自の規格であるCoinbase Wrapped Bitcoin（cbBTC）に1対1の比率で変換され、Morphoへと移管される。その後、このプロトコルにより、USDC建てのローンが1分未満でユーザーのCoinbaseアカウントに直接送信される。

The loans have a minimum collateral ratio of 133%, and borrowers can increase their loan-to-value (LTV) ratio above this threshold.

このローンには最低担保率が133％設定されており、それ以下の場合、借入者はこのしきい値の上限までローン担保価値率（LTV）を調整することができる。

If the loan balance reaches 86% of the collateral’s market value, the collateral is liquidated, triggering repayment and penalty fees, and the remaining Bitcoin is returned to the borrower.

ローン残高が担保の市場価値の86％に達した場合、担保は清算され、返済およびペナルティ料金が課され、残りのBitcoinは借り手に返却される。
