CeraPhi Energy moves into new home in North River Road

CeraPhi Energy has moved into its new home in North River Road, where it will operate alongside existing offices in London and Houston, Texas.

The company, which was founded in 2020, uses natural heat produced by the earth’s core known as deep geothermal energy for heating and power.

It works by circulating a working fluid through deep wells which enable heat to be transferred to the surface through conduction and convection.

CeraPhi Energy opened its new headquarters in Great Yarmouth’s North River Road this week (Image: Ralph Hardwick) CeraPhi is also repurposing oil and gas wells to utilise this geothermal energy.

Its 2023 KM8 Project in Kirby Misperton, North Yorkshire, was the world’s first successful attempt to produce geothermal energy from a repurposed oil and gas well.

The firm says the system produces zero emissions and has a one of the lowest carbon footprints.

The fluid used is re-injected back into the ground, making the system sustainable.

Skills shortage in region could leave one in five ‘grossly underqualified’

Karl Farrow, CEO at CeraPhi Energy, added: “We’re incredibly excited to officially open our new headquarters in Great Yarmouth.

“This move marks an important step in our growth as we continue to scale our operations and bring innovative geothermal energy solutions to the forefront of the clean energy sector.

“Our presence here in Great Yarmouth is testament to the strong local energy community and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead in our region.”

The opening of the new office on Tuesday was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Henry Cator, the high steward of Great Yarmouth, as well as the mayor of Great Yarmouth, Paula Waters-Bunn.

Ms Waters-Bunn added: “It is fantastic to see CeraPhi Energy growing in our town.

"The company’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and job creation is exactly the kind of development we need to continue driving the local economy forward.

"We are proud to support CeraPhi and look forward to seeing their continued success.”

The company is part of the heating and hot water system in the new 1,080 home sustainable community being built by ES Cubed in Willingham, part of the wider North East Cambridgeshire development.
