Birth/Rebirth (Limited Edition Slipcase Blu-ray) - Vinegar Syndrome

Fresh from its festival run earlier this year, Laura Moss' queasy take on the Frankenstein tale puts motherhood front and center with its tale of a maternity nurse desperately trying to bring her daughter back from the dead with the help of eccentric pathologist.

Set in 1987, the movie follows Union (Judy Reyes), a maternity nurse who is devastated by the stillbirth of her daughter. Refusing to give up hope, she enlists the help of eccentric pathologist Dr. Hartman (Marin Ireland) in an attempt to bring the baby back to life. As their experiment begins to show promise, they must evade the notice of Hartman's colleague Reginald (Miles Burton) and Union's husband Ben (A.J. Lister).

Vinegar Syndrome's release of Birth/Rebirth comes complete with a slipcase and a 72-page booklet featuring an essay by film critic Sean Gill and an archival interview with medical advisor Emily Ryan. It will also include the following special features:

* New commentary with director Laura Moss, actors Judy Reyes and Marin Ireland, executive producer/co-writer Brendan J. O'Brien and medical advisor Emily Ryan

* A new documentary on the making of Birth/Rebirth

* Trailers and TV spots

* Still gallery

Companion (4K Ultra + Digital) - Warner Home Video

The good-for-her canon got a new entry this year with Drew Hancock's bubblegum horror hit Companion, which is also serving as a perfect introduction to the talents of Sophie Thatcher. Further highlighting the strengths of the younger generation of horror actors, Companion also stars Jack Quaid (The Boys), Lukas Gage (Smile 2), Megan Suri (Never Have I Ever) and Harvey Guillen (What We Do in the Shadows). It's certainly one of the best original horror movies of the year so far, and definitely deserves a space on your physical media shelf.

Set over the course of one fateful summer, Companion follows an awkward but harmless drifter named Paul (Quaid) who is invited to join a group of campers on their travels around scenic America. Unusually close siblings Maisie (Thatcher) and Jay (Gage) are joined by sunny hangout queen Devon (Suri) and the group's resident joker, Gilbert (Guillen). But as the campers get closer, Paul begins to realize that all is not what it seems with this band of nomads.

Warner Home Video's release of Companion ships today, April 1.

Cries and Shadows: The Return of the Exorcist (Limited Blu-ray/CD w/ Slipcover and coin) in April

Clocking in at a whopping 288 minutes, giallo and giallo-adjacent fans will be pleased to know that Cauldron Films is releasing Cries and Shadows: The Return of the Exorcist on Blu-ray.

Also titled The Exorcist III, Naked Exorcism and Return of the Exorcist, this 1988 giallo film by Manuel Cañete is a shameless rip off of The Exorcist, but it's still entertaining for that very reason. It follows a group of young people who are terrorized by a sinister force that performs satanic orgies and bloody rituals.

The film is full of Europulp horror at its finest, with plenty of nudity, violence, and special effects. It's a must-have for any fan of giallo or cult cinema.

This Limited Edition Blu-ray/CD comes in a slipcover with a coin. It includes several bonus features, such as an interview with director Manuel Cañete, audio commentary by Robert K Gabrus (The Movie's The Message podcast), a making-of featurette, the original trailer, a TV spot, a still gallery, and a full-color booklet with an essay by Sean Gill. The soundtrack CD features the original score by Manuel De La Parra.

Heart Eyes (Blu-ray + Digital) - SONY

If you missed out on rom-com slasher Heart Eyes in theaters back in February, then you're in luck. The film is heading to Blu-ray and Digital in April.

The film, which serves as a holiday classic in the making, follows a group of college students who are being murdered one by one by the titular Heart Eyes killer. As the body count rises, one hapless group of friends must try to stay alive and identify the killer before they become the next victims.

The film is lead by Mason Gooding (Scream) and Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer), who both deliver standout performances. The film also features an original song by MARINA and is sure to please fans of both
