Japanese firm Metaplanet, known as the country's version of MicroStrategy, has announced plans to expand its Bitcoin ( BTC ) holdings to 10,000 BTC by 2025. The company will use capital market tools, engage shareholders with new initiatives and forge partnerships to promote Bitcoin adoption in Japan and globally.

Having made its largest Bitcoin acquisition to date, purchasing 619.7 BTC for approximately US$60.6M (AU$96M), Metaplanet now holds a total of 1,761 BTC. This places the company 15th among corporate Bitcoin holders, aiming to join the ranks of industry leaders such as Marathon Digital, Riot and MicroStrategy.
