Deutsche Börse, one of the world’s leading financial exchange operators, is planning to introduce a regulated institutional custody service for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH), according to March 11, 2025 news from Bloomberg.

This move will see the German exchange group offering BTC and Ether custody to more than 2,500 institutional clients, with services expected to start in April, it was reported.

“We are expanding our offering to include other cryptocurrencies, as well as diversified offerings such as staking, lending and brokerage capabilities. Our goal is to create a complete, one-stop solution that combines digital asset custody, brokerage and settlement services,” said Jens Hachmeister, head of issuer services and new digital markets at Clearstream, a subsidiary of Deutsche Börse.

The digital asset services will be facilitated through Crypto Finance AG, a Switzerland-based subsidiary of Deutsche Börse that was acquired in 2021. This collaboration will leverage Crypto Finance’s expertise to ensure the secure and efficient management of digital assets.

The report explained that the new custody service will be fully compliant with European financial regulations, having received approval from Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (Bafin). The service will also feature advanced security protocols, including multi-signature authentication, cold storage solutions and continuous monitoring to safeguard client funds.
