A commemorative Sherlock Holmes coin has gone on sale in Herefordshire for a staggering price.

The Herefordshire-based anonymous seller has listed the silver 50p on popular online selling platform eBay, for £8000.

In 2019, the Royal Mint announced plans to create the coin to commemorate 160 years since the birth of the character’s creator – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle – who was born on May 22, 1859.
