Bitcoin hit a fresh record high on Sunday, briefly surging past $80,000 as the world’s largest cryptocurrency continues to rally on the back of pro-crypto US lawmakers.

The rise in the largest digital token, which scaled fresh records after the US vote, outpaces the returns from investments such as stocks and gold.
