Real Vision's chief crypto analyst, Jamie Coutts, has pointed out that Bitcoin (BTC) is outperforming the S&P 500 amid market panic, which is surprising considering BTC is more volatile than the U.S. stock market index.

As global markets face increasing turmoil, Bitcoin has managed to remain more resilient than traditional financial assets, while the S&P 500 has suffered a steeper correction.

In a post on X, Coutts highlighted that Bitcoin's recent correction is smaller than the S&P 500's — despite BTC being more than twice as volatile.

"BTC with 2.5x the volatility of the S&P 500 experienced a drawdown of 28% vs the S&P 500's 19%. That is a MASSIVE OUTPERFORMANCE," Coutts wrote.

This kind of performance underscores Bitcoin's evolving role as a hedge against fiat instability and a stronger store of value in times of macroeconomic distress.

Coutts suggested that while most risk assets are suffering sharp declines, Bitcoin's relative strength signals a deeper shift in how investors view the digital asset:
