Deutsche Boerse, Germany’s largest stock exchange, will be offering cryptocurrency custody and settlement services for its institutional clients. The company’s post-trade division, Clearstream, will be managing the new crypto service and its settlement, while another subsidiary, Crypto Finance, will act as the sub-custodian.

Clearstream was a product of the merger between Centrale de Livraison de Valeurs Mobilières (CEDEL) and Deutsche Boerse in January 2000. It began as a 50-50 joint venture between the parties until Deutsche Boerse’s complete acquisition of the company in July 2002.
