US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he would create a “Crypto Strategic Reserve” that will include major digital tokens such as XRP, SOL, and ADA, adding that he will ensure the US becomes the “Crypto Capital of the World.”

The crypto industry has boomed after Trump has promised to relax nascent financial regulation on the trading of digital tokens. The administration has also banned the US Federal Reserve from carrying out work on launching a digital dollar that would offer a government-backed rival to private stablecoins.

The crypto industry has been rocked by a series of setbacks in recent years, including the collapse of FTX, one of the largest crypto trading platforms.

The White House has said it will host its first “crypto roundtable summit” this week with “prominent founders, CEOs and investors” in digital assets. The president also launched his own meme coin, known as $Trump, which has plummeged in value, losing investors an estimated $12 billion. The Trump coin traded 17 per cent higher on Sunday to $15.
