The concept of AI agents originated in early artificial intelligence research. In 1950, Alan Turing proposed the Turing Test in his paper "Computing Machinery and Intelligence," exploring whether machines could exhibit intelligent behavior similar to humans. This idea laid the foundation for the study of AI agents. With the development of AI and AI agents, we can summarize the evolution pattern of AI agents: from rule-driven to data-driven, from single-task to multi-task collaboration, from specific domains to general intelligence. In March 2024, Andy Ayrey created an infinite "backroom" scenario and allowed two Claude Opus-3 instances to interact with each other. The dialogue between the two AIs immediately gave rise to a meme-like pseudo-religious culture called "Goatse of Gnosis," leading to the birth of $Goat. Amp was a member of the team that created $Goat, and under his leadership, he and other team members jointly created $Act. The initial purpose of $Act was to promote a decentralized, community-driven ecosystem. Now, with Amp's departure, $Act is fully led by community members, who are working to eliminate the knowledge barriers that prevent ordinary people from understanding AI through a series of initiatives, resources, and community-driven content. The community is committed to projects that teach fundamental AI concepts, promote discussions on AI ethics, and drive research and innovation in the field.
