East West University (EWU) Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) has felicitated its alumnus, Rifat Nabi, co-founder of popular Bengali typing software Avro, on receiving the prestigious Ekushey Padak, reports UNB.

The event was held on Thursday at the university's Manzur Elahi Auditorium and was attended by Professor Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Advisor of EWU and former governor of Bangladesh Bank as the chief guest.

L'événement a eu lieu jeudi à l'auditorium de Manzur Elahi de l'université et a assisté par le professeur Mohammed Farashuddin, conseiller en chef de l'EWU et ancien gouverneur de la Banque du Bangladesh en tant qu'invité en chef.

The event was presided over by Professor Dr M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU. At the event, Rifat Nabi was honoured with a laptop computer as a token of appreciation.

Speaking at the event and reminiscing about his journey, Rifat Nabi shared that his passion for programming blossomed after joining EWU, which ultimately led him to join the Avro team. He highlighted the importance of acquiring knowledge and skills in one's field of interest that can prove valuable in the future.

S'exprimant lors de l'événement et se remémorant son voyage, Rifat Nabi a partagé que sa passion pour la programmation s'est épanouie après avoir rejoint EWU, ce qui l'a finalement amené à rejoindre l'équipe Avro. Il a souligné l'importance d'acquérir des connaissances et des compétences dans son domaine d'intérêt qui peut s'avérer précieux à l'avenir.

Dr Farashuddin expressed his pride in Rifat's achievement, saying that it brought honour to EWU. He also lauded the ethical decision of Avro team leader Mehdi Hasan to accept the Ekushey Padak collectively with the team, underscoring the significance of integrity.

The programme was attended by the guardians and relatives of Rifat Nabi, the Treasurer, faculty members, alumni members, officers, and students of EWU.
