As Donald Trump prepares to return to the White House in just days, the president-elect's social media accounts on Friday pitched what appeared to be the latest Trump-branded merchandise: Trump Memes, billed as crypto assets being advertised as “$TRUMP.”
If that sounded sketchy to you, you weren't alone: Many social media users wondered whether Trump’s Truth Social and X accounts were hacked — and continued asking that question even after the posts were up for several hours.
After calling on users to buy Trump Meme coins and “Join my very special Trump Community,” Trump continued to post on his Truth Social account, announcing a new deputy secretary of education — though her name appeared to have been misspelled.
The Trump Meme website says the assets are minted through Solana, a blockchain platform. The product's website showcases a message from Trump encouraging potential customers to “Celebrate Our Win & Have Fun!” Scrolling further down reveals the meme itself, an image of Trump with his fist in the air with “FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT” and his signature plastered across. A product description offers the explanation, “On July 13, 2024, President Trump faced death and came up fighting!” while touting the meme as a “piece of history.”
The site says that “CIC Digital LLC, an affiliate of The Trump Organization, and Fight Fight Fight LLC collectively own 80% of the Trump Cards.” Trump has made millions via licensing agreements through CIC Digital LLC. Delaware records show a Fight Fight Fight LLC was registered on Jan. 7.
The Trump Meme website also states it “is not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign or any political office or governmental agency.”
The Trump-Vance transition team did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.
While many social users weren't convinced that the Trump Meme pitch is real, Trump and his family pitched many ridiculous (and real) products during the 2024 campaign and have continued doing so as his inauguration approaches. The ventures have included a “God Bless the USA Bible,” a version of the holy book that the president-elect personally endorsed.
Last month, a day before Christmas eve, Trump beseeched supporters to buy a Les Paul-style six-string from “Trump Guitars,” weeks after guitar manufacturer Gibson hit the website with a cease-and-desist order.
Other available products include ghastly gold Trump sneakers, assassination attempt cologne, and $100,000 watches. In September, Trump announced he and his family were starting a crypto business called World Liberty Financial.
