Sui, the prominent Layer-1 blockchain, recently partnered with investment firm Franklin Templeton. This partnership will prioritize supporting a developer
Layer-1 network Sui has announced a new partnership with investment firm Franklin Templeton, which will include capital investment in Sui and support for the network’s blockchain development.
The partnership will see Franklin Templeton provide support for Sui's developer ecosystem, rather than focusing directly on SUI development, the network said in an announcement on Monday.
Sui stated that Franklin Templeton has been supporting blockchain projects since 2018, adding that the firm's CEO has been a vocal advocate for the technology.
“Franklin Templeton Digital Assets previously invested in the Sui ecosystem, and this new partnership will provide further benefit by seeking value creation opportunities to allow Sui builders to deploy novel technology onchain,” Sui said in a social media post.
However, the network provided scant details on the specific blockchain developments that the partnership will entail.
Instead, Sui highlighted some of its existing projects that may have caught Franklin Templeton's attention, including its decentralized finance central limit order book, a decentralized mobile carrier and an MPC network.
Some clues can be gleaned from the investment firm's initiatives. Earlier this year, Franklin Templeton scouted DePin projects, seeing them as a potential growth area. The firm has also been making strong plays in tokenization. It may assist Sui by supporting its blockchain developers in these fields — particularly DePin.
Sui, for its part, has been performing strongly of late. It recently enjoyed a remarkable bull run, climbing 74% in value over one month before hitting an all-time high on Nov. 20. Yesterday, its blockchain stopped producing blocks for almost two hours, but SUI remained remarkably unfazed. These fundamentals could make Sui an appealing partner for Franklin Templeton.
Franklin Templeton has yet to make any direct announcements on the partnership. Sui also posted a more expansive press release, but it did not contain substantially different information from the talking points in its main announcement.
