Tether, the crypto company behind the $140 billion cryptocrrency USDT, is working on an artificial intelligence (AI) platform and aiming to debut early next year
Crypto company Tether, the issuer of the $140 billion crypto stablecoin USDT, is working on an artificial intelligence (AI) platform set to debut early next year, according to an X post by CEO Paolo Ardoino on Friday.
"Just got the draft of the site for Tether's AI platform. Coming soon, targeting end Q1 2025," Ardoino posted.
Tether is best known for issuing USDT, the most widely used stablecoin in the market. However, under Ardoino's leadership, the company has taken significant steps to broaden its operations beyond stablecoin minting this year.
It made investments in a variety of businesses operating in the energy, payments, telecommunications and artificial intelligence sectors, respectively. Additionally, it started participating in commodity trade finance and changed its corporate structure to better reflect its expanding priorities.
Tether's interest in AI grew as a result of its acquisition of a stake in AI and cloud computing company Northern Data last year. This interest is also highlighted by its goal to launch an AI product.
CoinDesk contacted Tether for further details on the upcoming product, but none were provided by the time of publication.
