Coin collectors, listen up! A 'super rare' piece could make you a tidy sum if you happen to have it lying around.
The hot topic was highlighted by @CoinCollectingWizard on TikTok, who has attracted a following of 202,000 fans. Known for spotlighting rare coins that can sell for hefty amounts, he turned heads with a penny that could be worth an eye-watering £200,000.
In an engaging clip, the expert highlighted a UK penny from 1952 as "intriguing" and pointed out it's the scarcest of the entire collection of copper and bronze pennies.
He shared: "The existence of this unique 1952 proof penny was not known publicly until its initial appearance at an auction in 1977, some 45 years after it was struck."
According to the expert, the reveal of this coin, especially in its proof quality, took people by complete surprise, making the 1952 proof penny a one-of-a-kind enigma and the singular unique proof striking of a pre-decimal penny from the 20th century.
When touching upon the historical background of the rare penny, he mentioned: "It is perhaps understandable that the George VI 1952 remains a unique piece as the King died very early in 1952, passing away on February 6."
Most impressively, he reported: "A lovely example went up for auction recently and sold for £200,000, so it is 100% a coin to look out for."
The recently uploaded footage quickly racked up 500 likes and is closing in on 120 comments. Spectators have been quick to chime in, as one wrote: "I have plenty of coins," while someone said: "I have 1952." Another comment read: "I have a double-headed one."
