Super Bowl LIX kicks off Sunday afternoon in New Orleans as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles

Super Bowl LIX is set to kick off on Sunday afternoon as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.

Kendrick Lamar will headline the halftime show, and he's expected to be joined by some special guests. Stay tuned for updates!

6:15 p.m. ET - Actors Jon Hamm and Bradley Cooper introduce the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, respectively.

6 p.m. ET - President Donald Trump has arrived at the Superdome, visiting the field before the start of the Super Bowl. Earlier, the president arrived in New Orleans on Air Force One with family members and a long list of lawmakers.

Super Bowl LIX is being played at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

New Orleans was originally supposed to host Super Bowl LVIII in 2024, but when the NFL decided to extend the regular season by a game, the move pushed the Super Bowl into conflict with the city’s Mardi Gras celebrations, so the game was moved to Las Vegas and awarded Super Bowl LIX to New Orleans for 2025, when Mardi Gras falls in March.

Kickoff for Super Bowl LIX will be 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 9, but coverage will start much earlier on FOX, FS1, and Tubi.

Jon Batiste will perform the national anthem at Super Bowl LIX, while Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle will perform "America the Beautiful" and Ledisi will perform "Lift Every Voice and Sing."

Kendrick Lamar will headline the Super Bowl halftime show.

Lamar will be bringing hip-hop back to the NFL’s championship game, where he performed as a guest artist with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and Eminem in 2022. On Sunday, he becomes the first solo hip-hop artist to headline the halftime show.

SZA will join him but few other details about the performance were revealed, bowing to a tradition in which headliners keep their plans secret.

Lamar has experienced massive success since his debut album "good kid, m.A.A.d city" in 2012. Since then, he’s accumulated 20 Grammy wins and became the first non-classical, non-jazz musician to win a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album "DAMN."

The rapper’s latest album "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers" was released in 2022. He was featured on the song "Like That" with Future and Metro Boomin on a track that spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this year. He also scored another hit with "Not Like Us."

In 2016, Lamar gave a stunning seven-minute performance of tracks such as "The Blacker the Berry" and "Alright" at the 58th Grammy Awards. Lamar dazzled as an opener two years later at the Grammys with a performance of "XXX."

In June, Lamar turned his Juneteenth "Pop Out" concert into a celebration of Los Angeles unity. It came on the heels of his rap battle with Drake during the three-hour concert featuring a mix of p-and-coming LA rappers and stars including Tyler, The Creator, Steve Lacy and YG.

Roc Nation founder Jay-Z called Lamar a "once-in-a-generation" artist and performer.

"His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision," Jay-Z said. "He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come."

The Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC and faced the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. The Chiefs won 25-22, with Patrick Mahomes taking the MVP.

The Chiefs will be going for an unprecedented three-peat
