Electronics giant Samsung has announced a strategic partnership with Web3 company Illuvium, focusing on the latter's universe of three interconnected games.
Electronics giant Samsung is joining forces with Web3 company Illuvium in a strategic partnership that will showcase the latter’s universe of three interconnected games at Gamescom 2024. The collaboration will see Illuvium have a major presence at Samsung’s booth, specifically on select Samsung Web3 TVs.
Visitors at Gamescom will be able to experience Illuvium’s trio of games—Overworld, Arena, and Zero—directly at the Samsung booth as part of the partnership. Arena, one of the three games, will be making its mark in the esports arena, showcasing its competitive capabilities through community events and live streams.
Previously, Illuvium collaborated with Team Liquid to promote Illuvium: Arena, with nine of Team Liquid’s streamers playing the autobattler and demonstrating its new competitive PvP mode. This earlier partnership highlights Illuvium’s strategy to engage the esports community and showcase the game’s potential in competitive gaming.
The partnership between Samsung and Illuvium centers around the GEN3RATOR campaign, which aims to merge the communities of both entities. According to a release, the campaign will give fans the chance to win prizes, including 10 GEN3RATOR NFTs. These NFTs are Samsung’s latest digital tool, which unlocks features on the Samsung Web3 Roadmap, enhancing user engagement and interaction within the ecosystem.
Kieran Warwick, CEO and Co-Founder of Illuvium, will be participating as a speaker in the “Good Morning Gamescom” panel discussion. His presence highlights the importance of this partnership and the strategic direction Illuvium is taking in the gaming and Web3 spaces.
Samsung’s partnership with Illuvium is part of a broader strategy of engaging with gaming companies and entities aiming to enter the esports domain. Samsung already has a PUBG Mobile division in collaboration with esports organization NRG and has sponsored multiple events and esports organizations, including TELUS Esports, GODSENT, and the Snapdragon Pro Series.
Samsung’s history of involvement in gaming and esports demonstrates its commitment to fostering and supporting competitive gaming. The collaboration with Illuvium further cements Samsung’s role as a significant player in the gaming industry, leveraging its technology and resources to enhance the gaming experience for fans and players.
The partnership between Samsung and Illuvium at Gamescom 2024 marks a strategic integration of advanced Web3 technology with immersive gaming experiences. By showcasing Illuvium’s interconnected games and engaging in the esports space, Samsung expands its influence in the gaming industry. The GEN3RATOR campaign serves as a bridge between communities, offering unique fan experiences and advancing the integration of blockchain technology in gaming. With prominent figures like Kieran Warwick participating in key discussions, the collaboration positions both Samsung and Illuvium at the forefront of this evolving frontier.
