Coin collectors are being urged to check their stashes as some coins could be worth a small fortune.

Recently, a "super rare" coin that looks like a 20p had people talking about its surprising value.

Now,TikTok user @CoinCollectingWizard has left people in a frenzy after sharing a video that could net some lucky collectors a massive payday.

"Attention this coin is worth at least £150,000," he says in the clip.

"This is the 1933 pre-decimal penny from the United Kingdom."

But before you get too excited, the TikToker highlights that many pennies can look alike, which could leave eager treasure hunters thinking they've stumbled upon a windfall too early.

To make sure, you'll need to check the date on the coin to verify its authenticity.

"But I guarantee you do not have this coin, how do I know?" he adds.

"Because it's one of the rarest coins ever produced, there are other dates on those old pennies you might have though and some do hold a decent value."

However, he notes that no matter the value of other vintage pennies, none can compare with the fabled 1933 penny, of which only seven specimens are thought to exist.

The TikToker shares his experience with the numerous followers who message him daily, convinced they've discovered this valuable coin, only to miss the critical detail – the date.

"I get loads of people messaging me thinking they have this coin but they never look at the critical detail on the coin, the date," he says.

"So have a look at the dates on your old pennies and if you're still unsure, send me a message and I'll be happy to help identify it."

He adds: "There are other dates to look out for, but obviously not as the same value as the 1933 penny."

The video has gained nearly 1,000 likes and numerous comments since its release.
