Although it has been listed as rare by the Stowmarket seller on ebay official figures from the Royal Mint's website show that there were 9.5 million Tom Kitten coins minted.
A rare 50p coin is being listed for sale for £2,000 in Suffolk.
The shockingly expensive Tom Kitten coin was minted in 2017 and is one of 15 coins in the Beatrix Potter 50 series released between 2016 and 2020.
Although it has been listed as rare by the Stowmarket seller on eBay, official figures from the Royal Mint’s website show that there were 9.5 million Tom Kitten coins minted.
With the high mintage, the 50p coin is not considered a rare coin but is said to be getting harder and harder to find.
This is due to collectors wanting them for their own collections, and given the popularity of the Beatrix Potter series, they are still heavily sought after.
At the start of the month, a Benjamin Bunny 50p coin was listed in Glasgow for £150,000.
Suffolk owners were more minded to offer the coin for under £2.
The seller has described the coin, which features the iconic character created by Stephen Raw, as a "must-have for any serious coin collector".
