Phala Network Debuts Op-Succinct Rollup, Boosting Ethereum Scalability
Jan 09, 2025 at 06:19 pm
Phala Network announced on January 8 the launch of the first-ever Op-Succinct Layer 2 rollup on Ethereum, an initiative realized through partnerships with Succinct Labs and Conduit.
This new rollup is designed to enhance Ethereum's scalability and performance by utilizing the Op-Succinct technology to optimize transaction speed, cost, and security.
Phala Network Debuts Op-Succinct Rollup to Boost Ethereum ScalabilityThe Op-Succinct integrates two technologies: Optimistic Rollups (Op) and Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZK). Optimistic Rollups contribute to the scalability of blockchain networks, and ZK proofs provide cryptographic guarantees that verify the validity of transactions.
By combining both, Op-Succinct improves Ethereum's capacity to process transactions faster and at a lower cost, all while maintaining high security.
“Developed through Succinct’s ZK expertise, this system enhances Ethereum scalability by delivering low-cost, fast-finality, and highly secure rollups,” explained Phala.
However, despite the announcement, there is no positive impact on the PHA token. In fact, the token is down by nearly 6% in the last 24 hours.
Phala Network operates as a parachain in Polkadot. Its move to Ethereum is aimed at providing developers with a more secure and cost-effective method to execute cryptographic computations.
Its infrastructure facilitates privacy-preserving, verifiable computations, easing the transition of developers from Web2 to Web3.
Furthermore, on January 8, Phala also launched Phala Cloud, a secure platform designed for AI applications. It supports both CPU and GPU TEEs (Trusted Execution Environment), offering flexible billing and easy deployment, paving the way for decentralized AI agents.
Phala Network is renowned as the execution layer for Web3 AI, enabling artificial intelligence to understand and interact with blockchains. Its multi-proof system addresses the challenges of AI execution, providing a platform where developers can easily create tamper-proof, unstoppable AI agents.
These agents are seamlessly integrated with on-chain smart contracts through the AI-Agent Contract, ensuring secure and reliable interactions.
In a related development, Phali's TEE network also serves as the foundation for ai16z's open-source AI Agent framework, Eliza. This latest announcement from Phala comes amid growing enthusiasm for AI Agents in the web3 space.
