LAHORE, Pakistan - Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi has bestowed upon star batsman Babar Azam a pristine white MG car as a testament to his extraordinary contribution to the team's recent Pakistan Super League (PSL) campaign.

Afridi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share a photograph of Azam beaming inside his new automobile, which he subsequently took for a test drive. The vehicle, estimated to be valued between PKR 72.0 and 81.0 lakhs, serves as a tangible expression of Afridi's gratitude for Azam's exceptional achievements.

As the captain of Peshawar Zalmi, Azam emerged as the leading run-scorer in PSL 9, amassing an impressive 569 runs in 11 matches, with an average of 56.90. His tally included five half-centuries and a century. Despite his stellar performance, Zalmi narrowly missed out on the coveted title, falling to eventual champions Islamabad United in the Eliminator.

Afridi had previously pledged to present Azam with an MG car upon the latter securing a century. Today, Azam visited the MG office in Lahore, where Afridi formally bestowed upon him the MG HS Essence variant.

The Essence car, manufactured entirely in Pakistan, embodies Afridi's commitment to supporting domestic industry.

Azam's recognition comes as he concurrently leads the Pakistan national team in the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand. His exceptional form has positioned him as one of the most formidable batters in the world.
