OUSG Expands to Europe and the Polygon Network
Feb 21, 2025 at 06:01 am
According to a recently released blog from Ondo Finance, Ondo Short-Term US Government Treasuries (OUSG), its tokenized fund is now available on Assetera
Ondo Short-Term US Government Treasuries (OUSG), a tokenized fund by institutional DeFi pioneer Ondo Finance, is now available on Assetera, Europe's first MiFID-licensed marketplace for blockchain-based securities.
The integration marks OUSG's expansion to the Polygon network, making it accessible on-chain across three major protocols. Prior to the integration, OUSG could be minted and redeemed on Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon.
Assetera's platform is designed to cater to European institutional investors, offering a platform for trading tokenized real-world assets with a focus on compliance and security.
The collaboration will enable accredited investors to trade OUSG directly on the Assetera platform, offering exposure to short-term US Treasuries.
OUSG provides institutional investors with exposure to high-quality yield through indirect access to low-risk, highly liquid US Treasury bills. It also offers round-the-clock liquidity, supporting instant mints and redemptions, and is backed by institutional-grade security.
With $419 million in total value locked (TVL), OUSG is an attractive asset for investors seeking high-quality yields and the reliability of US Treasury funds.
On the other hand, Assetera is known for offering features that align with institutional expectations, such as transparent price discovery, atomic settlement, and custodial and non-custodial options.
The collaboration aligns with Ondo Finance's broader mission to make high-quality financial products globally accessible without sacrificing compliance and security.
Recently, World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a company backed by Donald Trump Jr., announced a strategic partnership to integrate tokenized real-world assets into its ecosystem.
According to the announcement, WLFI will be exploring the integration of tokenized assets from Ondo, such as OUSG (a tokenized form of short-term US Treasury bonds) and USDY (a yield-bearing USDC token), within its financial network.
These assets will be available for margin trading, lending, and borrowing on the WLFI platform, expanding the investment options available to its users.
Additionally, tokenized assets from Ondo's future global markets, which provide on-chain access to equities, bonds, and ETFs, will also be listed by WLFI.
Commenting on the partnership, Donald Trump Jr. highlighted the partnership as a major step in merging traditional finance with blockchain.
“This collaboration marks a significant development in merging traditional finance with blockchain technology. By integrating Ondo’s tokenized assets, we're bringing traditional financial instruments and new yield opportunities to the vast network of WFli,” he said.
The partnership follows WLFI's recent purchase of 342,000 ONDO tokens, valued at $4.7 million USDC, as part of a broader investment in the institutional DeFi space.
Along with the investment, Ondo Chain was introduced, a permissioned layer 1 blockchain designed specifically for tokenizing physical assets for institutional finance.
