Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) alliance chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday, November 23, expressed confidence in the voter turnout in the state Assembly polls, stating that the people of Maharashtra will vote in large numbers peacefully.
After casting his vote at a polling booth in Baramati, Pawar said, "People should vote, and I am confident that the people of Maharashtra will vote in large numbers in a peaceful manner. After November 23, it will be clear who will be given the responsibility of forming the government in the state."
Speaking on the allegations against his daughter and NCP MP Supriya Sule in connection with an audio clip that purportedly mentions a bitcoin deal, Pawar said, "The person who made the allegations (Sudhanshu Trivedi) was in jail for several months, and it is only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that can take such a person along and make false accusations."
Trivedi, a former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in March 2022 in connection with a money laundering case. He was granted bail by a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in June.
After his release from jail, Trivedi has been targeting Sule and making allegations against her. In the purported audio clip, a conversation between two people can be heard, where one of them is allegedly Sule. The conversation pertains to a bitcoin deal, and the other person in the conversation is allegedly seeking Sule's help in the matter.
Sule has denied the allegations and sent a criminal defamation notice to Trivedi. She has also demanded an apology from him and asked him to withdraw his statement within 48 hours, failing which she will initiate legal proceedings against him.
