As core developers of Agglayer, Polygon Labs fields a number of questions, both Agglayer-related and not. Like: Is Agglayer just a bridge? And: Does the moon exist?
Agglayer is a neutral public good and cross-chain settlement layer to unify liquidity, users, and state across a diversity of sovereign chains, with finality posted to Ethereum.
It is more than a bridge, bigger than a “rollup cluster,” and is not limited to connecting only Polygon CDK chains.
Agglayer does not validate chain states or require additional interoperability solutions.
It can process both tokens and messages and is designed to be minimal and flexible.
While it provides security for cross-rollup message passing, these blocks do not magically manifest on their own and require a coordination layer, such as Espresso.
Finally, Agglayer is capable of faster finality than the slowest chain's finality due to trust levels and pre-confirmations.
