Miners led the FTSE 100 higher on Monday as hopes grew that China's reopening will boost demand for commodities.

Kier Group (KIE) to commence share buyback programme
Infrastructure services, construction and property group Kier Group (KIE) announced on Monday that it will commence a share buyback programme to purchase up to a maximum consideration of £20 million.
The FTSE 250 company said the shares will be acquired on the London Stock Exchange and will be cancelled following their purchase.
KIE noted that the authority to purchase shares was granted by members of the company at its last general meeting on 28 July 2022.
The programme will commence on 23 January 2025 and is expected to conclude by 22 July 2025, subject to any necessary extensions.
As of 09:02 GMT, Kier Group shares were up 0.26% at 153.00p.
