Back in December, the U.K.’s Royal Mint honored Paul McCartney with his own coin. Well, now his bandmate John Lennon is getting one, too.

British metal band Iron Maiden is setting sail for a new collection of coins with the Royal Mint.
The Royal Mint is known for its vast collection of coins, commemorating everything from British monarchs to Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Now, the institution is setting sail with the British metal band for a new series of coins.
The Royal Maiden coins will kick off with a special-edition coin to mark the band’s 50th anniversary. The coin is made from silver and will be available for purchase in November.
The coin is designed by coin designer Matt Harris and features an image of the band’s mascot, Eddie, on the front of the coin, set against the band’s Union Jack flag. The coin also includes the band members’ names, the band’s logo and the year the band formed.
“We are thrilled to be launching this special coin collection with Iron Maiden,” says Rebecca Morgan, director of commemorative coin at The Royal Mint. “Having sold over 90 million records and performed to millions of fans at over 2,000 gigs around the world, Iron Maiden are undoubtedly one of the most popular and enduring metal bands on the planet.”
Morgan continues, “We are proud to be celebrating their musical legacy with a unique and striking coin collection that is sure to be treasured by fans for years to come.”
The coin is part of The Royal Mint’s Music Legends coin series. Other artists commemorated with coins include Paul McCartney, Queen and David Bowie.
