Guardian Angel Sports Club Clinches the 17th London Trophy 2025

Margão | In a hard fought match, Guardian Angel Sports Club edged past Peddem Bomm Sports Club by 2-1 to clinch the 17th London Trophy 2025 inter village football tournament, organised by Goa Velha Sports Club at the St. Andre Panchayat ground on Sunday morning.
The Chief Guest Dimitris Dimitriou (Head Coach of Churchill Brothers SC) gave away the Winners Prize of Rs. 1,00,000 to Guardian Angel Sports Club along with the Trophy. Guest of Honour Fr. Antonio Francisco Albuquerque gave away the Runners Up Prize of Rs. 80,000 to Peddem Bomm Sports Club along with the Trophy.
Andre Evaristo Pereira (Sarpanch of St. Andre Village Panchayat), Agnelo Fernandes (Deputy Sarpanch of St. Andre Village Panchayat), Iyno John De Souza, Emilia Caiado, Monica Miranda (Panchas of St. Andre Village Panchayat), Anthony Francis Vas, Omkar Rohidas Vaigankar, Laxman Tulshidas Hadfadkar (Executive Committee Members of GFA), Lamgoulen Semkholun (Captain of Churchill Brothers SC), Rajnish Lawande (Prop. RPL Fabricators), Raymond Caiado (Social Worker), Andre Silva, Jose Silva, Elvis Rego (Villagers based in the United Kingdom) graced the Finals as our esteemed Guests. The Guests were given Mementos as a token of appreciation by the Club.
The match began slowly with both teams feeling each other out. However, once the first goal was scored, the tempo of the game increased. The first half saw some good football being displayed by both teams.
The first goal arrived in the 24th minute when Cyril Dias put Guardian Angel Sports Club ahead. He dribbled past the Peddem Bomm Sports Club goalkeeper Soma Korgaonkar and shot into the nets.
The second half saw more goals and action. Milroy Clement made it 2-0 in favour of Guardian Angel Sports Club when he coolly slotted past the Anjuna keeper Soma Korgaonkar in the 40th minute of play.
Peddem Bomm Sports Club came all out in search of a goal and succeeded in reducing the margin through Mohammad Adur to make it 1-2.
The goal spurred on Peddem Bomm Sports Club who went all out in search of the equaliser but found the Guardian Angel keeper Rasal Fernandes a hard nut to crack.
One particular moment of brilliance by Rasal Fernandes occurred when he performed a double save to keep Guardian Angel ahead. The first save came when he dove to parry a powerful shot from a Peddem Bomm Sports Club striker. As the ball rebounded into the air, a teammate collided with Rasal Fernandes, knocking his cap off his head.
Despite the interruption and the close proximity of the Peddem Bomm Sports Club strikers, Rasal Fernandes quickly recovered and managed to punch the ball clear with his left fist, sealing the double save.
The match referee Rohidas Bhomkar who was well assisted by Roshan Pednekar and Shravan Lamani cautioned Godwin Fernandes of Guardian Angel Sports Club and Samuel D'Souza of Peddem Bomm Sports Club. Jan Rodrigues was the fourth official.
The Final Match of the 17th London Trophy 2025 inter village football tournament organised by Goa Velha Sports Club was played between Guardian Angel Sports Club of Margao and Peddem Bomm Sports Club of Anjuna.
At the final whistle, the referee blew the whistle and the players and coaches shook hands. The crowd cheered as the winners, Guardian Angel Sports Club, raised the trophy in victory.
The tournament was a huge success, with large crowds turning out to watch the matches. The standard of football was also very high, with some excellent goals being scored.
The tournament also helped to foster a sense of community spirit among the local villagers.
