Ethereum-Based Shooter 'The Machines Arena' Enters Open Beta, Expands to Android

April 21, 2023

San Francisco, CA - Directive Games has announced that its competitive first-person hero shooter "The Machines Arena" (TMA) will transition to open beta on Tuesday, April 23rd. The game, which utilizes the Ethereum sidechain network Ronin, will also become available on Android mobile devices for the first time alongside its PC version.

The open beta will be accessible through the Epic Games Store for PC and the TMA website for Android. Additionally, the game will be playable via Mavis Hub, the Ronin gaming network launcher, on both platforms.

"After extensive development and invaluable feedback from our dedicated closed beta community, we are thrilled to expand the beta to a wider audience across multiple platforms," said Directive Games in an official announcement.

Gameplay Enhancements and New Features

TMA has undergone significant gameplay optimizations and enhancements leading up to the open beta launch. Notably, the game introduces "familiars," collectible companions that assist players in combat. The specific mechanics of familiars remain undisclosed but are expected to be elaborated upon next week.

Web3 Integration and Play-to-Airdrop Campaign

While TMA has previously limited its Web3 integration, the open beta marks a significant expansion in this area. Directive Games has announced a play-to-airdrop campaign that will reward players based on their individual and team-based leaderboard rankings. The precise nature of the rewards has not been fully disclosed, though the team has hinted at a potential token drop.

Community Engagement and Future Content

To foster community engagement, TMA promises a series of in-game events, competitions, and new content throughout the open beta period. This includes the introduction of new maps, skins, mintable collectibles, and more.

Closed Beta Rewards Deadline

Players who participated in the closed beta have until the end of April 22nd to claim their earned rewards. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of these rewards.

"We are excited to welcome a broader audience to 'The Machines Arena' and believe that the open beta will provide valuable insights as we continue to refine the game," said Directive Games CEO Adam Locon. "With the integration of mobile play and the expansion of our Web3 elements, we aim to create an immersive and rewarding experience for players."
