Eric Cristobal, a dedicated blockchain advocate, community builder, and beloved Axie Infinity guild leader, has passed away on December 2, 2024.

Eric Cristobal, a well-known figure in the early Philippine crypto community, passed away on December 2, 2024. His family confirmed the news and announced that his wake will begin on December 3, at St. Peter Memorial Chapels and Crematory, By-pass Rd, Sta. Clara, Sta. Maria, Bulacan.

Cristobal was known for his early contributions to the local blockchain industry, including his role as Ecosystem Growth Lead at cLabs (Celo) from 2020 to 2022. In this capacity, he worked on community engagement and marketing initiatives to support Celo’s early financial inclusion missions in the Philippines.

Before joining cLabs, Eric served as Social Media and Country Manager for Philippines at OKEx from 2018 to 2020. In this role, he promoted crypto adoption and community development.

Cristobal was also the founder and leader of EMC, a prominent Axie Infinity guild where he coached players, managed daily operations, and built partnerships during the height of the play-to-earn phenomenon in the Philippines.

Additionally, Cristobal contributed to various organizations, including DAO Maker, BitMart, and Iskra, where he focused on community building and business development.

Details of his interment will be announced by his family soon.

Cristobal was a strong advocate for crypto education and believed in the importance of spreading awareness to help Filipinos avoid scams and make informed decisions in the crypto space.

“Many Filipinos are still getting scammed by different people and projects by promising investors of high return of investments. We believe that we can help eliminate this by spreading awareness and sharing knowledge with people,” he said.

Those who knew Cristobal remember him fondly for his enthusiasm, dedication, and willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by the Philippine crypto community and beyond.
