Eigenpie Releases $egETH to Redefine $ETH Staking

Dec 13, 2024 at 03:00 pm

Eigenpie is launching its liquid restaking coin $egETH to boost Ethereum staking. It enables the consumers to restake the $ETH tokens straight on Arbitrum.

Eigenpie Releases $egETH to Redefine $ETH Staking

DeFi protocol Eigenpie has announced the launch of its liquid restaking coin $egETH to bolster Ethereum staking. The development will enable users to restake $ETH tokens directly on Arbitrum.

With this, Eigenpie offers a unique integration of its technology with EigenLayer’s framework while maintaining users’ access to DeFi protocols on preferred networks.

To cater to diverse user needs, Eigenpie unveils two distinct modes for liquid restaking. One of them is fast restaking, while the other is slow restaking.

In fast restaking, users can restake $ETH in smaller quantities directly on Arbitrum without the need for any cross-chain interaction. Eigenpie provides a small amount of $egETH by default for Arbitrum-based smart contracts to facilitate instant restaking. Users receive $egETH as they restake $ETH tokens deposited into the smart contract. This mode is ideal for smaller transfers and incurs a minimal fee for smooth operations.

On the other hand, slow restaking is designed to facilitate cross-chain transfers for those handling large $ETH quantities. In this scenario, users can deposit $ETH tokens into Eigenpie via Arbitrum, following which these tokens are bridged to Ethereum L1 for restaking through Chainlink CCIP. This entire process usually takes around 30 minutes. Once the restaking is complete, users will receive $egETH tokens on Arbitrum.

The integration of Chainlink CCIP plays a pivotal role in this development. Chainlink’s robust infrastructure ensures efficient and secure cross-chain transfers, seamlessly connecting Arbitrum users to the benefits offered by EigenLayer-based technology. This partnership highlights Eigenpie’s commitment to innovating cross-chain accessibility and enhancing the DeFi experience.

The development marks a step forward in Eigenpie’s aim to offer community-led advancement

According to Eigenpie, its liquid restaking options signify a significant stride in the advancement of the DeFi landscape. By catering to the diverse needs of $ETH holders, the company aims to strengthen the EigenLayer ecosystem while providing unparalleled flexibility.

This initiative underscores Eigenpie’s dedication to fostering community-led ecosystem collaboration and progress. The protocol is reportedly striving to revolutionize Ethereum staking with such innovations.
