Dog trainer reveals the three breeds he suggests prospective dog owners might want to avoid

A renowned dog trainer has disclosed his top three picks for dog breeds that prospective owners may want to steer clear of.

Taking to his popular TikTok channel, American Standard K9, which boasts a massive 3.6 million followers, trainer Garret Wing unveiled his "top three XL dog breeds we don't recommend."

Garret slotted the Tibetan Mastiff into third place, presenting it as a "monster of a dog" that can hit the scales at 68kg and reach heights of 26 inches.

He noted: "[It] can take out an entire pack of wolves. So do you really need that in your home with small children? I don't think so."

Moreover, he highlighted their challenging temperament, mentioning their stubbornness, which can make training difficult, before wrapping up his thoughts: "Gorgeous animals, but probably not a good fit for you," as reported by Surrey Live.

Next up on Garret's list was the Great Dane, which he acknowledged as "really sweet dogs" that can make "awesome pets," but he also highlighted the reality that their colossal size can drastically alter your living situation.

They can potentially weigh up to 91kg and reach a height of 32 inches.

Garret elaborated: "You basically have to rearrange your entire house, even down to getting a crate and taking them places. Where's your coffee table, and where are you going to put your cup? We're talking about a dog that's just too big for most homes."

Finally, at the top of Garret's list was the Cane Corso, which he deemed the "number one dog breed we don't recommend for families," noting that these dogs can tip the scales at around 50kg and stand as tall as 28 inches.

He further elaborated: "That's just way too much dog for about 99.9% of people. And that's coming from us, not only as professional dog trainers, but owners of the Cane Corso. They are total battle tanks and you don't need that in your suburban neighborhood."
