Dean Norris Blasts Reddit Users After Hackers Exploit His X Account to Push a Memecoin That Reached a Maximum Value of Over $8 Million

Hackers hijacked Dean Norris' X account as part of a pump-and-dump scheme to promote a memecoin using his image.

Dean Norris Blasts Reddit Users After Hackers Exploit His X Account to Push a Memecoin That Reached a Maximum Value of Over $8 Million

Actor Dean Norris, known for his role as Hank Schrader in 'Breaking Bad,' had his X account hacked by individuals who used his image to promote a memecoin, ultimately reaching a maximum value of over $8 million.

The hackers exploited Norris' X account as part of a pump-and-dump scheme to push a memecoin named DEAN, using his image and likeness to promote the token.

On January 26, Norris posted a video on his X account, revealing that hackers had compromised his account and highlighted a memecoin called DEAN, which he described as a "complete, fake scam."

Norris expressed his frustration towards Reddit users who, according to him, "called me all sorts of things for something I wasn’t responsible for. Go fuck yourselves."

Although the post promoting the token is no longer visible, users managed to preserve screenshots of the original and subsequent posts by the hackers, including one featuring a likely manipulated photo of Norris holding a paper with the DEAN ticker and launch date.

A video shared by the hackers on X showed Norris apparently stating, “Hey, it’s me, Dean, and on January 25th, I’m declaring it’s real,” making it appear as though he supports the coin's authenticity.

Some Reddit users speculated that the video could be an AI-generated deepfake or a paid video that was edited out of context.

It's worth noting that Norris is active on Cameo, a platform where fans can pay celebrities to create personalized video clips.

According to blockchain data tracker DexScreener, DEAN's market cap surged to $8.43 million on January 25, but it later plummeted to below $60,000.

Over 96% of the memecoin's value has evaporated since then.

In a follow-up statement, Norris confirmed that he does not have a Telegram account and rarely uses X.

“I didn’t know I was hacked until I started getting texts from friends saying it’s out there.”

This marks the second time that hackers have compromised Norris' account to promote a cryptocurrency scheme.

Onchain detective ZachXBT highlighted in November a project linked to a former Fortnite pro that was connected to multiple account breaches, including those of McDonald's, Usher, and Dean Norris.

This incident comes after President Donald Trump launched a memecoin on January 18, sparking a trading frenzy that drove its market cap to nearly $9 billion within hours.
