CZ Receives a Large Volume of Crypto Donations After Sending 150 BNB to Victims of Test (TST) and Broccoli Meme Coin Losses
Feb 21, 2025 at 12:19 am
While he clarified that his donations do not serve as an endorsement of any token, he pledged to redistribute all received funds, keeping none of them.
Changpeng Zhao, the former CEO of Binance, has received a large volume of crypto donations after sending 150 BNB to victims of Test (TST) and Broccoli meme coin losses.
While he clarified that his donations do not serve as an endorsement of any token, he pledged to redistribute all received funds, keeping none of them.
The situation follows his earlier support for investors impacted by the Libra (LIBRA) token collapse. Crypto users sent him more than he initially contributed, and he confirmed that he would not retain any of the funds.
A university student known as EnHeng announced on Feb. 15 that he would donate 50,000 Binance Coin (BNB) to those who suffered losses from the meme coin LIBRA. The token, linked to Argentine President Javier Milei, lost 90% of its value after its liquidity was drained.
EnHeng, being a university student himself, said he understood how devastating a rug pull could be. He encouraged others to contribute to the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) wallet he provided, adding that although all victims could apply, college students would be the priority.
Upon seeing EnHeng’s post, CZ donated 150 BNB, which was around $100,000 at the time, to the initiative. He went on to publicly confirm the transaction on Feb. 18, sharing a BscScan link as proof of his contribution.
Shortly after his post, crypto users began sending him additional tokens. Within a day, the wallet balance surpassed the amount he initially donated.
As of the latest update, BscScan data showed a balance of at least 369 BNB, which was valued at $243,000. The address also received over 100 other tokens that were worth more than $543,000. Some of the tokens received included Wrapped BNB (WBNB), Cat (CAT), Chengpang Zhoa (ZHOA), CZ's DOG (Broccoli), Build on BNB (BOB), Binance-Peg BTCB Token (BTCB), and Trust Wallet (TWT).
At the time of reporting, more than 25 pending transactions were still waiting to be processed, with users continuing to send crypto to the address.
As funds kept arriving, CZ addressed the situation, stating that when people try to make quick money, they often lose, but when they give it away, more comes back. He added that he would not keep even a satoshi of the donated assets, emphasizing that he would redistribute all of them.
Several Broccoli meme coins inspired by CZ's dog have had their liquidity pulled, while Test (TST) has dropped 85% from its peak in just ten days.
